Go to the quality control section

1.2.Malfunction: "Mainboard does not start up" #

The cause of the problem may be a malfunction of the mainboard, power supply, or lack of a boot signal from the vf-master.

Check the connection of the front_panel cable.

Replace the front panel and restart the unit.

  1. If the device starts up correctly, a faulty vfmaster is the cause of the problem.

  2. If the unit does not start up, the power supply or mainboard is the cause of the problem.

Disassemble the device.

  1. After disassembling the unit, check if the mainboard is working with another power supply, if it is, a faulty power supply is the cause of the malfunction.

  2. If the power supply is not the cause of the problem, replace the mainboard and its components.

  3. If the mainboard still does not start up, contact Funtronic.

1.3.Malfunction: "The mainboard switches off" #

Symptoms of the malfunction: approx. 15 20 minutes after being switched on, the computer’s mainboard switches off. The projector stops displaying an image, but when you look at the lens, you can see that the lamp is on. Four LEDs lights on the LED panel switch off. Often, before you turn off the mainboard, you can notice that the games freezes, or “lags”. The probable cause of the problem is overheating of the processor.

Check the connection of the fan on the mainboard

  1. Unscrew the front panel and check the fan, if you can see that any of the mounting hooks are detached from the mounting socket, mount the fan again. This is a good time to add thermal conductive paste to the processor.

  2. If the fan is installed correctly and the mainboard continues to shut down, contact Funtronic.

1.4.Malfunction: "projector does not start up" #

The problem has the following symptoms: When the device is turned on, the red LED starts blinking but the projector does not start up. No sound signal from the projector.

The problem points to a faulty projector or problems with power supply. Another possible reason for this malfunction is a lack of communication between the vf-master and the projector.

Check that the projector is powered.

Turn on the projector with the remote control.

  1. If the projector does not start even though it is powered, replace the projector.

  2. If the projector starts when using the remote control and does not start during the normal start-up procedure of the device, the problem is caused by a wrong cable connection.

1.5.Malfunction: "projector does not display image" #

The problem has the following symptoms: When the projector is turned on (single beep) and the lamp is on (check by looking directly at the lens), the projector still does not display any image.

Check if the computer’s mainboard starts up.

  1. If the mainboard starts up (the cooling fan rotates), proceed to the next point.

  2. If the mainboard does not start up, go to problem section: mainboard does not start up.

Unscrew the cover and check the HDM cables

  1. After tightening cable connections or replacing the cables, restart the unit.

  2. If correcting the HDMI cable installation did not help, proceed to the next step.

Replace data carrier

  1. Replace the disk. If the device starts up, the problem is caused by a SATA HDD.

  2. If replacing the drive did not help, contact Funtronic.

1.6.Malfunction: "projector stops displaying image after some time" #

A problem with a projector that switches off may occur between 20 minutes and 2 hours after the projector is turned on. The problem concerns mainly devices numbered M12.

Symptoms of the malfunction: During operation, the projector switches off. First, it displays the message “shutdown in progress”, then the projector makes a double beep sound after a while to indicate a correct shutdown procedure. When you look at the projector lens, you can see that the lamp is on. The mainboard is working, four LEDs are on, the device is responding to the remote control (using the remote control, you can hear the sound of switching between menu options).

The cause of the malfunction is activation of temperature protection mechanisms of the projector.

Check if the fan is mounted on the plate with the projector.

  1. If it is mounted but you can see that it is detached from the sheet metal, mount the fan again.

  2. If it doesn’t look like the fan is installed and you can’t install the fan, please send the device back to Funtronic.

1.7.Malfunction: "red LED light does not come on" #

This problem occurs when the vf-master control system is not powered or is severely damaged. The first diagnostic step is to determine whether the device is properly powered.

Turn off, wait 2 minutes, then turn on the power (ON OFF button).

Turn on the projector with the remote control.

  1. If the projector does not start (no sound signal), check the fuse in the power outlet at the rear of the unit.

  2. If the projector starts up, it means that the device is properly powered. To continue with troubleshooting, proceed to the next item.

Unscrew the front panel and secure the site to prevent an electric shock. Next, after powering up the unit, check the voltage supplied by the USB cable to the Vf-master using a multimeter.

  1. If the voltage indicated by the multimeter is greater than 5V, the cause of the problem is a faulty vf-master. In this case, replace the front panel.

  2. If the voltage is less than 5V, the cause of the problem is the power supply or, less frequently, the mainboard.

1.8.Malfunction: "red LED light continues blinking" #

The problem has the following symptoms: After one minute, when the device should have finished the start-up process, the red LED flashes continuously. The device displays a menu but cannot be controlled by the remote control. After approx. 3 minutes, the device switches off.

The cause of this fault is an RS communication problem. This is one of the most difficult problems to diagnose, due to the fact that the cause of the problem can be a faulty: computer, power supply, vf-master or RS cable.

Update your device using a flash drive with the latest upgrades.

The problem “red LED light continues blinking” may occur when the firmware version on the computer is older than the version loaded on the vf-master (e.g. as a result of an upgrade from an old flash drive). If a flash drive upgrade helps, this is the case.

Check that the RS cable is properly connected.

At this point you can also replace the RS cable (this operation requires unscrewing the front panel and the cover).

Replace the front panel.

  1. If the replacement helped, the cause of the malfunction is a defective vf-master. This is a highly probable cause of such a problem.

  2. If the front panel replacement did not help, proceed to the next point.

Check if the power supply unit provides the correct voltage -12V.

  1. To check the voltage -12V, it is best to use a dedicated tester.

  2. If you do not have a tester, try replacing the power adapter.

  3. If the replacement of the power supply does not help wither, contact Funtronic technical service.

1.9.Malfunction: Image flashes #

he problem has the following symptoms: from time to time the image fades out for about 1-2 seconds; this effect may be periodic. When there is no picture, you can still hear sound coming from the device.

Replacement of HDMI cable

  1. To replace the HDMI cable, you need to unscrew the cover (upper part of the device).

  2. The cable is glued to the projector using hot-melt glue. Use a freezer to remove the glue. When applying the freezer, use a flat screwdriver to remove the glue.

  3. Replace HDMI cable.

  4. Glue the new HDMI cable to the projector.

If the above method did not help, please contact Funtronic.

1.10.Malfunction: Audio problem - loudspeaker makes a “crackling” sound #

The problem has the following symptoms: disturbing sounds are emitted from the loudspeaker continuously or periodically. The unit is still playing sound.

The first step in this case is to connect headphones to the rear jack socket. Then check if the problem persists when using the headphones:

  1. YES: Contact Funtronic (the problem may be the mainboard),

  2. NO: Check if the problem has disappeared after plugging the headphones in and out (at least twice) – the contacts in the audio jack could have been opened up. If this does not help, replace the audio cable.

Replacing the audio cable.

  1. Unscrew the front panel and the top of the unit.

  2. Remove the old audio cable (when disconnecting the cables remember the position of individual pins, e.g. take a picture), – unscrew the jack socket from the cover, remove the cable from the mainboard, disconnect the cable from the front panel.

  3. Mount the socket for the new audio cable and plug the connectors into the front panel and mainboard.

  4. Mount the front panel and the lid.

  5. If the problem persists, contact Funtronic.

1.11.Malfunction: Audio problem - no sound #

The problem has the following symptoms: no sound from the device. This can be caused by a faulty audio cable, poor soldering connections on the speaker, jack contacts, a defective vf-master or a defective mainboard.

The first step is to check the volume of the device using the remote control. If the volume animation changes as you increase the volume, proceed to the next steps. If not, check the other remote control.

  1. Check the connection of the audio cables: on the front panel, on the mainboard and on the jack socket, and solders on the speaker (requires unscrewing the front panel).

  2. Plug the headphones into the jack socket and make sure the headphones are playing sound. If not, the problem is a faulty mainboard. If so, proceed to the next steps.

  3. Replace the mainboard with a new vf-master and speaker and check if the problem has been resolved. If so, the cause is a faulty vf-master or a connection between the speaker and the vf-master.

1.12.Malfunction: One of the fans in the the device is very noisy #

If there are disturbing noises coming out of the device and you have already ruled out that they are coming from the loudspeaker, check if they are caused by defective operation of one of the fans.

There are 4 fans in the device:

  1. On the mainboard of the computer

  2. In the computer’s power supply unit.

  3. Underneath the overhead projector plate

  4. In the projector.

First of all, it is important to find out where in the device the disturbing noise comes from. Next, check if the noise is caused by the cables touching the fan (especially the fan on the main board). The last step is to turn off one particular fan in question and check if the sound has stopped. (The projector and the computer can be turned off by remote control and by closing the red pins on the f_panel port, whereas the fan under the projector can be stopped by unplugging the power supply plug on the mainboard).

Once you are sure which fan is making the disturbing noise, replace it.
